Roca de les Dotze

This “boutique” family winery is a wine-growing project led by the oenologist Josep Serra under the management of the Henry family. Lourdes and Enric dedicate all their passion and work to this winery, located in the heart of the D.O.Q. Priorat, in Catalonia. The quality and care of their vineyards are reflected in each of the little more than 20.000 bottles they produce. Grenache and Cariñena are the two main varieties predominating their old vineyards, with the help of Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon or Viogner in their excellent white. There are four wines made in this exquisite project: two reds, Noray and Roca Bruixa, a white, Flor de Roca, and a very special rosé, for which Garnacha and Syrah merge in a burst of aromas.

Lourdes and Enric were clear from the beginning of this adventure in 1990 that each bottle had to contain all the magical essence of terroir del Priorat and they have managed to get it in all their wines.

The complex and peculiar orography of the Priorat, with its slate soils and the “licorella” as main richness, require careful oenology and viticulture work that involves a manual harvest in the 13 hectares of their own vineyard, located about 700 m. above sea level and in which the 45.000 vines provide a select production of high quality grapes.

The name of this exclusive winery, “Roca de les Dotze”, comes from the cliff located in front of one of their vineyards in the Serra del Montsant, where anciently the locals took this rock as a reference point at noon to take their work break and have lunch.
