My more than twenty years of experience in Export and international markets have allowed me to create Big5 together with Carmen, my wife, my partner and travel companion. Together we strive to combine everything we love and make it our daily challenge.
Today I am part of new families who have taught me to love their wine and their land. Customers from all over the world have become my friends; my illusion is to be able to convey to them the passion and dedication with which each and every wine from the Big5 wineries has been made. I started in the world of Exporting wines from Spain with a winery in the D.O Penedés, where they also produced Cava and Brandy. There I learnt the importance of family legacy in wines and different generations. Years later I discovered the Priorat, the influence of the “Terroir”, the slate, the “licorella”, the Grenache, the Carignan and the terraces…
After a long time as Export Manager in different wineries, BIG 5 has helped me to delve into exciting Appellations of Origin:
Ribera del Duero with its Tinto Fino, Rioja with its Tempranillos and Rías Baixas with its Albariños and Treixadura. Terra Alta has revealed to me the incredible quality of his Grenaches (white, red and “hairy”). I have also discovered the great resistance of the Bobal Valenciana, the Cencibel de La Mancha and the very productive Monastrell.
Working with different varieties and apellations has expanded my vision of Spanish wine and has made me go much deeper into each territory, value it and love it. Each winery, each family, with its wine teachings and its particular history, contribute to the daily growth of Big5.
Without this knowledge it would be impossible to pass on our passion to our customers around the world.
